What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small files that may be placed by a web site on a user's PC.
They are used to store information that may be needed while browsing the site, or on a future visit. This may include personal data, or anonymous information such as previously visited pages or items stored in the shopping cart.
This page is designed to outline the functions these cookies enable and the kind of information that they collect.
What is the law on Cookie usage?
A recent (2011) change in EU regulations requires that consent must be obtained before using any cookie that is not 'strictly necessary' for the functioning of the site. It is not yet clear how this will be interpreted in law.
Cookies Used On Our Website:
Anonymous Tracking Software
We use Google Analytics (just like almost all websites) a service provided by Google. They gather anonymous data of how people are using this site and then provide us with visitor statistics, details of page views etc. This helps us know which pages on our site are visited the most and helps us improve things for the visitor accordingly. If you are anti-Google you can opt-out of being tracked by Google Analytics at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout (we'd rather you didn't as this data is extremely useful to us to maintain and improve our website)
Third paty widgets on the site include:
They all collect data anonymously unless you are already logged into their service. They collect details of pages visited, combine it with several thousand or million others people's anonymous data to produce graphs and statistics. In many cases the cookies are used to generate identical information to Google Analytics (see above).
Some cookies are needed for our site to function correctly.
We believe these are specifically excluded from the scope of the regulations but we have nothing to hide and so list them here for the sake of transparancy:
Records the session file of the shopping cart.
Consent is obtained before use via the Terms and Conditions that are enforced in the checkout and the Terms and Conditions retain a default cookie statement:
The login digest for logged in customers.(we dont currently use this feature on our site)
Remember Me Cookie
Checkout 'Remember Me' function - stores contact information to avoid the need for re-entering for subsequent orders.
Both of these are necessary for the correct functioning of the associated elements of the site:
Returns the customer to the last page visited after completion of the checkout.
Back Link Cookie
Used by the 'Back' link on the Product Page, to return the visitor to the correct Section Page.
Recent Images Cookie
Records the image filename(s) for the 'Recently Viewed Products' list, if enabled.
Cart Content Cookie
Stores the cart value and item count for the shopping cart summary.
None of these four stores personal data. The first two expire on closing the browser. Expiry period of the second two is set to 90 days.

Don't want any cookies ever?
Unfortuantely it is not practical for us to offer a cookie-free version of our site as we simply don't have the resources to provide and maintain one. Unfortunately if you are really anti-cookie then there is no option except to not use our site. You can remove any cookies we have already put on your machine within your browser settings - pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete may work in many cases.
We will however be sorry to see you go!
